Federal Government Issued A 90 Ultimatum To Private Jet Owners

The federal government has given private jet owners a 90 day ultimatum to legalize their documents or face the threat of seeing their aircraft grounded by the authorities.

All private Jet owners are expected to stop illegal charter, de register their aircraft that have foreign registration numbers if they wish to operate charter service and secure the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) certification for commercial charter.

Meanwhile, those that have been carrying illegal charter with foreign registered aircraft that do not wish to adhere to the new rules could take away their aircraft from the country or keep them solely for private use.

However, the aim of the 90 day ultimatum is for the private jet owners to come up with their operational preferences in furtherance of the Ministry of Aviation’s calculated efforts to streamline the operations of charter and private jets service in the country.

According to the General Manager, Public Affairs of NCAA, Mr. Fan Ndubuoke, the ultimatum was given at the conclusion of a meeting between the officials of the Ministry of Aviation and the stakeholders in the general aviation sector which houses all the owners and operators of private jets.

According to him, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation, Alhaji Mohammed Abass, gave the ultimatum after the meeting which lasted for hours in Abuja.
