Chief Judge Of Bayelsa State Set To Inaugurate Governor Elect Of Rivers State Come 29th May


Following power tussles rocking Rivers State, Attorney General of the Federation and Justice Minister Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN) yesterday, has asked the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State  Hon. Justice Kate Abiri to inaugurate the Governor Elect of Rivers State Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike come 29th of May, 2015.
The Attorney General in a statement said, where there is vaccum in the office of the Chief Judge of a State and that of the Customary Court of Appeal President, the country’s constitution provides room for  anyone to administer oath of office on a Governor Elect.
His statement:
Following, the Gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly Election Chief Barr Nyesom Wike was declared by the Independent National Commission as the Governor Elect on the 11th of April 2015. It will be wise to bring to the notice of the general public that the existing vaccum in the office of the Chief Judge of Rivers State as well as that of the President of the Customary Court of Appeal in accordance with the section 185(1) and (2) of the 1999 federal constitution.
Meanwhile, to avert constitutional crisis in the state come May 29, I have requested the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State to Administer the Oath of Allegiance as well as the Oath of Office on the Governor Elect in accordance with section 185(2) of the 1999 Federal Constitution.
