Akwa Ibom State: Election Tribunal Orders INEC To Conduct A Re-Run Election

Election tribunal nullifies Governorship election in Akwa Ibom State; base on some discrepancies noticed. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been ordered to carry out a rerun of Governorship election in 18 local governments in Akwa Ibom State in the following Local Government:

Onna

Uyo

Ibesikpo

Nsit Ubium

Nsit Atai

Uruan

Nsit Ibom

Itu

Ibiono Ibom

Eket

Ikot Abasi

Udung Uko

Etinan

Ini

Ibeno

Etim Ekpo

Oruk Anam

Ikono

Although, All Progressive Congress was not satisfied with the judgment and have decided to file for appeal, saying that they expected out right cancellation of the election in more Local Government Areas of the State where discrepancies were perceived.

Meanwhile, those of us that have been following the politics of Akwa Ibom State, will agree with me that majority of the LGA’s that the election is to be rerun are mostly APC dominant. However, out of the remaining 13 Local Governments, APC out rightly won in four Local Governments namely:

Mbo

Okobo

Udung Uko

Ure Offiong Uruko

From all indication it will only take the grace of God for PDP to win in this rerun.
