Ex Niger Delta Militants leaders have rejected
any plan to redeploy soldiers for the forth coming elections. Also the various date
March 28 and April 11 scheduled for the presidential and governorship election is not to be negotiated.
“We inform that it is the failure to hold
transparent, credible, free and fair elections on the scheduled dates that may
lead to chaos, insecurity and problems in the Niger Delta’’.
‘‘Ex-militants’ leaders while issuing a 10-point
declaration yesterday, said all processes leading to the elections must be
“credible, free and fair”.
The statement was signed by 11 ex- Niger Delta militants,
including Smart Amola (Warri South-West), Friday Edema (aka Ijagun 1),General
Boni (Burutu LGA), Francis Muturu (aka Gen. Aboy), Alfred Aniretan (aka Field
Marshal), and Sunday Amoma (aka Capone).
Others who were also part of the signing are Commander
Peter Asule (aka Gen Atseluwa, Warri-South), Gen. King Jerry, Gen Saturday
Emmanuel, Gen Isie Ologbo, and Commander Mike Edesemi (aka Gen Blackman).
The group insisted that Prof. Attahiru Jega and
INEC must be “truly” independent and allowed to conduct the elections without
intimidations which may come from the federal government or the Nigeria Army.
The ex militants reiterate that redeployment of
soldiers with a likelihood of intimidation or harassment of indigenes during or
after the elections will lead to a breakage in the law and order of the state.
Deployment does not mean soldiers are going to harass or molest indigenes of the state rather for they are to protection the image of God..
