President Goodluck
Ebele Jonathan signed the administration of Criminal Justice Law 2015 into Law.
The bill which was passed by the senate on May 5th, seeks to drive the problem
of prolonged criminal trials in the country among other things.
The special adviser to
the president on media and publicity Dr. Reuben Abati confirmed to newsmen
yesterday that the president has signed the document on Wednesday the same day
he received the bill from the national assembly.
Meanwhile, the chief
justice of Nigeria Justice Mahmud Mohammed is certain on this. According to him
the era of appointing unsafe and improper person as judges has just ended.
Thus, the national judicial council has come up with a more comprehensive way
of appointment. He said only the best legal minds with high moral standard will
be given the opportunity to serve as judges in the countries revered temple of
justice.
