The National House of
Assembly today the 22nd of October 2015 took a different turn and shape after former
Rivers State Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was successfully screened.
Upon which the
president of the federal republic of Nigeria Mohammad Buhari sent the list of
his ministerial nominees to the house for screening, there has been this
controversy rocking the air. It was clearly seen that the name of the former
rivers state governor was omitted from several screening list due to one reason
or the other.
Some Nigerians who
supported the nomination of the former rivers governor, and have long awaited
him to be screen alongside his ministerial nominees’ counterpart have their day
fulfilled.
Even though local media
and tabloids have carried controversial headlines about Rt. Hon. Chibuike
Rotimi Amaechi’s screening exercise, which some attributed it to political
obstacles and witch hunt.
Our correspondence had
a chat with some Nigerians and they had this to say:
The reason why Rt. Hon.
Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s screening had to go through all this process was
because, he has an intimidating credentials going by his past experiences as a
former speaker, chairman of governor’s forum etc.
You can also see that
the PDP today could not say anything that simply tells us they accepted him
without reservation.
Senator Ita Enang who
is the Senior Special Assistant to President Mohammadu Buhari on National
Assembly Matters, in a bid to correct the perception of how the media see the
whole scenario pointed out that the former Governor is not a controversial
person but a popular person. He also gave his reasons:
Former Governor of
Rivers State has an intimidating credentials and he is experience cannot be
ruled out.
Meanwhile, the good
people of Rivers State are so happy that their own son has scale through the
hurdles and is set to be appointed as a minister of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria.
