The Rivers State Government
said the compulsory retirement of 14 permanent secretary from the state civil
service by Governor Nyesom Wike was not an act of witch hunt as purported by
the opposition party (APC) in a state.
The Deputy Governor Dr.
Ipalibo Harry in a statement signed by her press secretary Paul Dagbo said the
retirement process was part of the effort by the state Government to revive and
reposition the State Civil Service for better and efficient service delivery.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ipalibo
Harry said she wondered why the APC would raise an alarm over the action taken
by the Rivers State Government on the retirement of 14 permanent secretaries when a
similar action was taken recently by the APC led Federal Government .
She also said
that there is nothing wrong with the compulsory retirement of the permanent
secretaries of the civil service.
