The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Rivers
State has raised an alarm of loosing over 55 of its members to Rivers State
political crisis.
The party has
accused security operatives and the Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) of plotting to rig April 11 governorship and state Assembly elections in
favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Chief Barr. Ezebunwo
Nyesom Wike.
According to the
National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress Lai Mohammed,
during a news conference in Abuja,
''the party has enough evidence which shows that INEC and security operatives in Rivers State allegedly collaborated to rig the elections in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)''.
National Publicity
Secretary reveals that the party has called on international observers and the
civil society groups to show special interest in Rivers State Elections.
Speaking on the
manner in which the APC members were being massacred by thugs, Lai Mohammed
acclaimed that hoodlums are now attacking faithful in the full disguise of
security operatives .
He also reveals
that the inability of the security operatives to make any of the killers to
face the music is a clear proof that the thugs had the backing of security
personnel.
Lai Mohammed while
reiterating his words said that the police command allegedly colluded with
thugs to unleash mayhem on the camp of APC, he also said:
'' His party has evidence that police were “colluding with the PDP to terrorize APC members''.
Speaking on INEC
biasness in Rivers State, Lai Mohammed claimed that the commission was dancing
to the tune of PDP. He regretted
‘‘Unfortunately, the violence targeted at APC members in Rivers, especially during the last elections, was carried out in the full glare, and in most cases, with the connivance of INEC officials in the state. Of course, it is needless to say that the collusion of INEC with the PDP and the police to pave the way for unbridled violence against APC members and supporters, and the subsequent rigging of the elections, was spearheaded by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ms. Gesilia Khan''.
