Finally Oscar Pistorius has been convicted by a South African
Court over the murder of his model girlfriend Reeves Steenkamp on 14 February (Valentine’s
Day) 2013.
The double amputee athlete was given a five year jail term
after he was found guilty of culpable homicide last year. Although, prosecuting
counsel appealed against the judgment, arguing that he should have rather been
founded guilty on the grounds of murder.
Meanwhile, the appeal by the prosecuting counsel has proven
to be fruitful. Thus Oscar Pistorius will have to return to court to be
re-sentenced for ‘’Murder’’.
According to the Judge:
The original verdict was flawed, he also said in firing the fatal shots, the accused must have foreseen the consequences.
However, the defence counsel argued that there was actually
an intruder in the house but the judge stated that the identity of the person
behind the scene was irrelevant.
